The Finance Department is primarily responsible for overseeing the financial activities of the NBPA and its related entities, as well as player benefits and various special projects. As part of its duties, the Department develops and monitors the yearly budget, prepares the Association’s financial statements and modifies policies and procedures in order to maintain an adequate system of internal controls. The Finance Department also:

  • Manages audits conducted by independent auditors, which includes the NBPA’s annual review, audits of Basketball Related Income (BRI), NBA Properties and the NBA teams.
  • Prepares and submits required financial information to a number of government agencies.
  • Administers the distribution of licensing revenue to players.
