The Votes Are In
Congratulations are in order for Milwaukee Buck Keyon Dooling and San Antonio Spur Matt Bonner. Committed to representing their fellow NBA players, Keyon was elected to serve as First Vice President and Matt as Vice President of the National Basketball Players Association’s (NBPA) Executive Committee. The elections recently were held in Los Angeles during the NBPA’s annual All-Star winter meeting.
Voted in by the NBPA’s player representatives, Keyon replaces Adonal Foyle, who retired from the league early in the season, to step up to First Vice President alongside President Derek Fisher. Already serving as an NBPA Vice President prior to this post, Keyon has been an active player representative and Union leader throughout his 11 NBA years.
Matt, serving as a player representative for the past seven years, joins Secretary-Treasurer James Jones, and existing Vice Presidents Maurice Evans, Roger Mason, Jr., Chris Paul, Theo Ratliff and Etan Thomas, to round out the Union’s Executive Committee.
“I’m super excited about my new role! I will support Mr. Hunter and Derek Fisher to the fullest and fight for our guys. My primary goal is to use my communication skills to get our message out and encourage all players to get involved. I wanted to step up to this position in an effort to honor all the basketball legends that came before us, and make sure that we preserve the game for all the up and comers behind us.”

“I'm very excited to join the Executive Committee at such a critical time in the NBPA's history. Having been a team player rep for seven years, I hope to use my experience and work ethic to contribute and learn during the upcoming Collective Bargaining process. I understand what's at stake and will do everything in my power to represent the players' best interest during this process.”
