of WNBPA Operations
The WNBPA is the first and only labor union comprised of professional
women athletes. The Association’s mission includes:
Representing WNBPA Players in collective bargaining with the
WNBA to gain improved working conditions, economic benefits
and job security for all members;
Engaging in whatever educational, legislative, political,
civic, social welfare, community or other activities which
will advance and safeguard the economic security and general
social welfare of WNBPA players both during ad after their
playing careers, and
Entering into cooperative efforts, such as those with other
labor unions, women’s groups and charitable entities
the WNBPA deems to be in the best interests of its members.
In addition, the WNBP offers a myriad of services and support
mechanisms to its members. These services include agent certification,
legal representation and arbitration services, player programs,
contract negotiation assistance and liaison with management.
The WNBPA works alone, as well as in conjunction with management
to offer programs designed to advance the employment, social
and post-playing lives of WNBPA members. Such programs include
graduate school tuition reimbursement, off-season internships,
financial planning, emotional and mental health support, substance
abuse education and career management.
